Some interesting surgery questions

Q) An appendicular stump is likely to heal if


A)
a) when appendicualr perforation occurs early
b) when perforation occurs late
c) particularly in non obstructive appendicitis
d) When antibiotics are withheld

What do you think is the answer?

    P.S : The new modality of treatment is to leave the stump as it is and not tie it using purse string sutures, since the stump is very small and heals by itself in a few days. ( Source: Dr Sushil Dawka, during my final professional viva)

    But if i was to choose an option, My instinct would tell me to mark C.

  2. since, The severity of inflammation will be the least in case of an catarrhal appendicitis! hence, healing will be better!
